Six Crafty Dorm Decor Projects Using Stencils

Painting the walls might be a big no-no but painting your own wall art is a gigantic YES!  It’s simple to do and a great way to dress up your space.  Do you love the look of Lucy’s art below?  Here’s how you can recreate it.  Buy a blank canvas or paint board at your local art store.  First, paint the canvas using Benjamin Moore’s palm coast teal 733.  Then stencil our Chandelier Stencil in a bright pop of orange, like Benjamin Moore’s calypso orange 2015-30 and a neutral gray, like  wish AF-680.  WAHLA! You’ll have stenciled wall art that will be the talk of the dorm!

Are your storage boxes so boring that they are making you yawn?  Organization doesn’t need to be boring and neither do your storage bins.  Sarah Ortega created this adorable storage box using the Zinnia Grande Flower Stencil.  First she painted a plain wooden box in a cool mid-tone blue similar to Benjamin Moore’s fairview blue 779.  Then she added the flower pattern in a bright white. Sarah says, “I love the outcome!”  So do we!

Wouldn’t you love to store your notebooks and magazines in this stenciled beaut? Steph from Crafting in the Rain, prettied up a wooden file holder that she had bought from Goodwill, using paint and a geometric pattern. To get this look consider using our Nagoya Craft Stencil in an eye-catching orange like tangy orange 2014-30.

Raise your hand if you dislike doing laundry!  We totally understand that it’s a chore but wouldn’t it be a little bit more fun if your clothes were piled into a fun laundry bin like this?  Caroline from Henry Happened, created a nifty looking laundry basket using our Chevron Stencil and a color similar to Benjamin Moore’s golden chalice 2151-20.  We think it’s strip-tastic!

Keeping all your notes in one place will be so easy with this stenciled magnetic board that we found on the blog By Stephanie Lynn.  Stephanie used a magnetic board that she had bought at Ikea and our Trellis Stencil pattern to create this cutie.  She painted the stencil pattern in DecoArt’s Americana Bleached Sand and added a wooden frame to give it a polished look.  You can find the step-by-step process over on her blog.  We think it’s an awesome idea!

Here’s a stencil project that you could complete faster than we can say EASY PEASY!  Karen from Pocket Full of Pink, painted an old wooden coat rack in a limey shade of green and then added a trendy pattern.  You could easily recreate this project using the Casablanca Craft Stencil in a hue similar to Benjamin Moore’s limeade CSP-865.
